Another nail-biter as Mirror Image hangs for another victory!
Maybe the Pink Warriors name will finally stick with these girls. The Mirror Image "Pink Warriors" had a point to prove on Saturday....they can survive the pressure and thrive on it. Carlisle Gross Lumber put up a valiant effort on Saturday, but the Pink Warriors' willpower and never-quit attitude came through in yet another nail-biter of a soccer match.
Both teams put up lots of shots on goal, many looking as if they were headed to the back of the net but only to be saved by outstanding goalie work. Riley Marcum had several saves in the 1st qtr, while the Pink Warriors had at least 6 shots on goal in the 1st qtr alone. Continual pressure by Lizzy Allen and Bailey Little kept the team from Carlisle in their heels while Lily Ruso and Maddie Bowling kept the ball rolling forward. Great mid-field play by Cassidy Siler and Makhaila hopkins thwarted Gross Lumber's thoughts of scoring. Just when you think Carlisle's team was about to put one in the net, thief-like defense from Jazmyn Geller, Dristi Ruchal, and Ireland Baker frustrated the oponnent by stealing the ball and sending it upfield.
In the 4th qtr, as the tension increases, as the coach's stress level inflates, and as the noise erupts from frantic parents, two defining moments changed the game and its final outcome. With just over 6 minutes left in the game, a stray ball pops out of a pack of girls trying to take possession. Gigi Kiniyalocts dribbles to the weak side and launches a shot past the outreached arms of the Carlisle goalie for the one and only goal of the game. The drama doesn't end there....with only a few precious seconds left on the clock, a Carlisle player sneeks by Pink Warriors defenders and shoots a missle at the goalie, Alexis Jenkins. Alexis reaches out, deflects the ball, it ricochets off her body and she's able to make the game-saving stop.
Final Score: 1-0
Record: 3-2
