Spring Toiyabe (Coach Select) Season for 10U and above

Spring Toiyabe Coach Select for Older Players

What are the requirements to play Toiyabe?

Players must be in the 10U-16U divisions (children born in 2004-2011), though some of the older divisions may not have enough players.  If your player is younger, please see the registration tab for your information.

Toiyabe is for enthusiastic and motivated players. To be eligible for the Toiyabe program, a player must have played in the prior Fall primary program, must have participated in at least 50% of their fall team games and must be selected by a coach. They may only participate in the same division that they participated in during the Fall program.

What is Spring Toiyabe?

Area 2F Toiyabe Inter-regional play follows AYSO’s Secondary (Select) program guidelines. It follows the Fall primary season and is for the 10U and up divisions. There are some differences between the two programs.

In the Fall Primary season, there are no tryouts (there may be player evaluations to balance the teams) and all players are randomly placed on balanced teams based on their current rating (if available) provided there are enough certified coaches. The number of teams is determined by the number of players and certified coaches available.

The Toiyabe program is an opportunity for players to improve their skills in a more competitive but still recreational environment.  The number of teams that will be formed in each division varies from year to year.  There is typically one Toiyabe team for each division. Coaches are selected to participate based on a higher criteria than used in the primary season. Ideally a coach should to be age-certified one level higher than the age division they are coaching. The coach should have an exemplary record of supporting all of the AYSO philosophies and be in good standing with their Region.

What is expected of me?

For the purposes of player development, a player is expected to regularly attend training sessions and games. Players submit applications for the Toiyabe season, may be required to attend a tryout(s) and are selected by a coach.

A higher level of commitment is also expected from both the players AND the parents. Toiyabe teams will travel more than fall teams, as the region could play teams from  Bishop, Carson City, Carson Valley, Fernley, Incline Village, North and South Lake Tahoe, Mammoth, Truckee and Winnemucca (and possibly others - this may vary from year to year).  Parents are also expected to participate in the program in some manner, whether it is in Toiyabe organization, running of the Toiyabe program (as a coach, referee, team parent, fund raising, tournament assistance, etc.) or be a volunteer for their Region in some other position.

When are tryouts?

Tryouts will generally be in January at Talents Athletic Center at 2749 North Carson Street, Suite B, Carson City, NV 89701
     - Boys - Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 10:00
