AYSO is a 100% volunteer-run organization—and we need you to make the season possible.

From coaching and refereeing to field setup, snack bar, and behind-the-scenes support, there’s a role for everyone.

Why Volunteer?

• It’s easy—keep it simple and have fun.
• We provide training and clear guidance.
• The time commitment is minimal—you’re already at the field.
• You can set a schedule that works for you.
• Your child will remember the time you spent being part of their experience.

Common Concerns

“I’m busy.”
We get it. Coaching can actually make your schedule easier—you control practice times and locations. Many families find it simplifies their week instead of complicating it.

“I don’t know soccer.”
That’s completely fine. Especially at younger ages, the focus is on basic skills and fun. We provide training and resources to help you every step of the way.

“I don’t want to coach.”
No problem. There are plenty of other ways to help—refereeing, team support, or behind-the-scenes roles.

Volunteer Training & Course Registration

Step-by-step guide to getting certified as an AYSO Region 140 volunteer.

Step 1: Register as a Volunteer

• Log in or create an account at aysocarsoncity.org
• Sign up as a volunteer and complete the eSignature form
• Follow the background check instructions sent via email
  

Step 2: Complete Required Safe Haven Training

• Log in to your account and go to the Volunteer tab
• Click the AYSOU button under your name
• Select My Training to view your progress
• Complete the following required courses:
• AYSO Safe Haven
• CDC Concussion Awareness
• Sudden Cardiac Arrest
• If needed, use Training Library → Safe Haven to enroll
• You can complete courses in multiple sessions

Step 3: SafeSport Training

• Required for all volunteers (state mandated)
• Check your volunteer page for SafeSport status
• If needed, select SafeSport and click Renew & Update
• Estimated time: ~90 minutes

Step 4: Online Coach or Referee Training

• Go to Training Library in AYSOU
• Select the appropriate category (Coaching or Referee)
• Click View Courses
• Enroll in the correct course (example: 10U Coaching)
• Complete all online modules

Step 5: In-Person Training (If Required)

Some certifications require an in-person session in addition to online modules.

• Method 1: Complete online modules → go to My Training → book in-person session
• Method 2: Use Training Event to find and enroll directly
• You can unenroll or reschedule if needed
