AYSO Carson City Region 140

Safe, Fair, Fun

Welcome to AYSO Region 140
Carson City, Nevada

AYSO Region 140 is proud to serve Carson City with a soccer program built around the core AYSO philosophies: Everyone Plays®, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development.

In 2026, that mission matters just as much as ever. We are committed to providing a safe, fun, and supportive soccer experience for every player and family in our community. Whether your child is brand new to the game or returning for another season, Region 140 is here to help kids learn, grow, compete, and enjoy the sport.

AYSO is powered by volunteers, and Region 140 is no exception. Coaches, referees, team parents, field helpers, board members, and behind-the-scenes supporters all play a part in making the season possible. Simply put: this program works because our community shows up.

We are always looking for volunteers.

No matter your experience level, there is a place for you in Region 140. We offer free training, simple guidance, and flexible ways to get involved both on and off the field.

Volunteering with AYSO is one of the best ways to support youth sports in Carson City. You do not need to be a soccer expert. You just need to be willing to help create a positive experience for the kids in our community.

We are also proud to welcome youth volunteers and community members who want to be part of something meaningful, local, and fun.

Come join the Region 140 team.

Help us keep AYSO strong in Carson City and continue delivering a great soccer experience for every player.

Values & Focus

The AYSO Philosophy

AYSO’s vision is to provide world-class youth soccer programs that enrich children’s lives.

The values behind that vision are simple and powerful: Fun for all. Education for all. Ethics for all. Access for all.

AYSO’s mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs in a fun, family-centered environment. That mission is built around AYSO’s Six Philosophies, which continue to guide Region 140 here in Carson City in 2026.

Why These Philosophies Matter

Youth sports should do more than fill a schedule. At their best, they help children build confidence, learn teamwork, handle challenges, and grow into respectful, resilient people. AYSO’s philosophies matter because they keep the focus where it belongs: on the player, the experience, and the long-term development of the child.

In Region 140, these ideas are not just slogans. They shape how we build teams, coach players, support referees, and create an environment where kids can learn the game without losing the fun that brought them to soccer in the first place.

Everyone Plays®

Every child deserves the chance to participate, not just stand on the sideline. AYSO requires that every player plays at least half of every game. That matters because kids develop through real experience. Playing time builds confidence, skills, game awareness, and a sense of belonging.

Balanced Teams

Balanced teams create better games and better learning. When competition is fair, players stay engaged, challenged, and encouraged. Blowouts do not teach much. Close games do. They help children learn effort, perseverance, teamwork, and how to compete the right way.

Positive Coaching

Kids respond best when they are taught, encouraged, and supported. Positive coaching helps players take risks, recover from mistakes, and keep improving without fear of being torn down. It builds self-esteem and helps children associate sports with growth, not stress.

Open Registration

AYSO believes soccer should be available to every child who wants to play. Open registration matters because youth sports should not be reserved only for the most advanced or experienced players. Access gives more children the chance to grow, make friends, stay active, and be part of a team.

Good Sportsmanship

Sportsmanship teaches respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, referees, and the game itself. For children, that lesson reaches far beyond soccer. Learning how to win with humility, lose with maturity, and treat others with respect is one of the most valuable parts of youth sports.

Player Development

Every player should have the chance to improve at their own pace. Player development means focusing on learning, effort, and steady progress, not just results on the scoreboard. When children feel supported in their development, they are more likely to stay involved, work hard, and enjoy the game long term.

What This Means for Region 140

Region 140’s goal is to put these philosophies into practice every season. They help us create a program that is competitive in the right ways, welcoming to all families, and focused on helping children grow as players and as people.
