Air Quality Policy

Air Quality Policy

If the current Air Quality Index (AQI) at AirNow.gov is 151 or greater, soccer will be cancelled.  The Regional Commissioner or Assistant Commissioner may cancel soccer for poor air quality at a lower AQI based on other observations and input from others.

It is recommended that players with sensitive conditions not play if the AQI is 101 or greater.

If a coach or referee determines that it is unsafe to play due to poor air quality, they may cancel their session/game.  If a game has started, generally it is the responsibility of the referee to suspend or call the game due to unsafe conditions.

If a parent feels that it is unsafe for their child to play, they should always feel comfortable to not allow their child to play.

Thunder and Lightning

Thunder and Lightning Policy

If you can hear thunder, lightning is within striking distance and players, officials and spectators should take shelter immediately.  Pete Livermore Sports Complex has limited accessible shelter.  Therefore, you should seek shelter in your vehicle.  Play will not resume until officials give the all clear at least 30 minutes after the last thunder is heard.

If a coach or referee determines that it is unsafe to play due to lightning in the vicinity of the field, they may cancel their session/game.  If a game has started, generally it is the responsibility of the referee to suspend or call the game due to unsafe conditions.

If a parent feels that it is unsafe for their child to play, they should always feel comfortable to not allow their child to play.

Excessive Rain

Excessive Rain Policy

Generally, AYSO plays in the rain if there is no lightning.  However, officials may cancel games/sessions to protect the fields from excessive wear in wet conditions.

If a coach or referee determines that it is unsafe to play due to excessive rain, they may cancel their session/game.  If a game has started, generally it is the responsibility of the referee to suspend or call the game due to unsafe conditions.

If a parent feels that it is unsafe for their child to play, they should always feel comfortable to not allow their child to play.

Other Unsafe Conditions

Officials may cancel games/sessions if there are unsafe conditions other than those listed above.
